Notes on tying:

1. Thread bead over hook and slide it up behind the eye.

2. Attach thread. Leave the bead loose.

3. Wrap the thread to the bend of the hook and tie in 4-6 pheasant tail fibers for the tail. The tail should be approximately the length of the hook gap.

4. Tie in the ribbing material with the ribbing material and the pheasant tail fibers lying against the hook shank up to the bead.

5. Move the thread to behind the bead covering the ribbing material and the pheasant tail fibers.

6. Wrap the butt section of the pheasant tail fibers around the hook shank to form a ball behind the bead and tie it down. (This will hold the bead in place.)

7. Tie in the Flashabou just behind the ball of pheasant tail.

8. Wrap the Flashabou to the bend of the hook and then back to the tie in point, then tie it down.

9. Follow with the rib and tie it down.

10. Tie in two stands of peacock herl and form the thorax on the ball of pheasant tail fibers behind the bead.

11. Whip finish.

12. Variation: In place of the peacock herl tie in the partridge hackle and wrap "wet fly style" as a collar. This should make a great "soft hackle" fly.
